Born December 9, 1927 in Ehime Prefecture, Morioka Hakuyo (Morioka Hisako) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Nakamura Sōyō I. She graduated from the music department of Osaka Municipal School for the Blind and became teacher in 1955. She was head of the Sōju-kai and a member of the Hafū-kai.
