Born in Omuta City July 25, 1906, Wada Takeyuki (Wada Kanae) was an influential figure in the Hōgaku world for over 55 years. He studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Koga Jōtake, earning his teaching certification in 1917. He belonged to the Tōdō Ongaku-kai and was head of the Genyū-kai.
