Kobayashi Yōsui (Kobayashi Shinsuke) was born November 4, 1925 in Kyoto. He studied Ueda-ryū shakuhachi under Fukuda Hōkō and Ishimoto Yōfū. He started teaching in 1949. He belonged to the Yōfū-sha.
