With a career in shakuhachi spanning more than 40 years, Suwa Keifū (Suwa Takeo) was born November 4, 1907 in Ashikaga City. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ishinaka Shūdō. He started teaching in 1960. He belonged to the Seifū-kai and Shufū-kai.
