Ōhara Seiran (Ōhara Jisaburō) was born March 5, 1900 in Akita Prefecture. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Yoshida Seifū and Satō Seibi. He was an officer of the Bifū-kai headquarters. He performed and taught shakuhachi for more than 50 years.
