A researcher of traditional Japanese music from the Taisho and Showa periods, with emphasis on the Fuke shakuhachi. He studied traditional Honkyoku and Sankyoku with Kawase Junsuke I, the founder of the Chikuyu-sha Kinko-ryū shakuhachi school. From the beginning of the Showa era (1912) , he was active in publishing articles and critiques in magazines such as "Sankyoku" and "Geikai," and newspapers such as "Sankyoku Shimpo" and "Geino Shimpo ." His major achievements include the reprinting, editing, and publication of the shakuhachi materials "Kyoreizan Myoanji Bunken (Zen)" and "Shakuhachi Shiryō: Kinko Techō."
