Born in Nagoya, May 2, 1931, Nomura Hideko studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Nomura Seihō and Nomura Toyoko. She began teaching in 1953, and became wife and assistant to the Iemoto (headmaster) of the Seigen-sha, Nomura Seihō and mother of koto player and composer Nomura Yūko.
