Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1896. Studied shakuhachi with Araki Kodō III. Upon the early passing of Kodō IV, it fell to Kimura to teach Kinko-ryū shakuhachi to Araki Tatsuya (Kodō V). Kimura was a longtime consultant for the Japan Sankyoku Association before his passing in 1985.
