Yoshida Junzō was born January 26, 1912 in Tokyo. He studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Nakanoshima Kinichi and began teaching in 1940. He received the Minister of Education's Award for first place in the performance category of the Hōgaku Competition in 1952. During a career spanning more than 40 years, he was head of the Masumi-kai, permanent director of the Suginami Sankyoku Kyōkai, and a member of the Sōyū-kai.
