Sakakuni Yoshiko (Nakai Yoshiko) was born in Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture, March 10, 1921. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Sakamoto Shūgyoku I and began teaching in 1956. Head of the Shūhō-kai, she was an active performer and teacher for over 40 years.
