Born April 14, 1903 in Shimane Prefecture, Hisamoto Genchi studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Hagioka Shōin I. He started teaching in 1925. Also a well-known composer, he was head of the Tokiwa-kai and an advisor to the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai.
