Nakagawa Toyotoshi (Nakagawa Keiko) was born in Otaru City, October 14, 1929. She studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Sanagi Okatoyo, earning her Shihan (teaching credentials) in 1958. She belonged to the Hagioka-kai and was head of the Otaru branch of the Kinyū-kai.
