Born August 22, 1939 in Ishikawa Prefecture, Matsumiya Masachie (Matsumiya Chieko) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Tsuriya Utafusa. Started teaching in 1965 and was a member of the Seiha Hōgaku-kai.
