Born June 6, 1928 in Miyagi Prefecture, Yamamoto Sōkei (Yamamoto Keiko) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Endō Shōkō and Endō Sōkō. She started teaching in 1948. She belonged to the Kokufū Shōrei-kai and the Sendai Sankyoku Kyōkai.
