Born February 13, 1939 in Kanagawa Prefecture, Yuzurihara Toshiko, the eldest daughter of Nakamura Ryokkō, studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Nakata Hiroyuki. She graduated from the Department of Japanese Music at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1961 and began teaching in 1963. She was a member of the Sōgakkai.
