Born July 25, 1911 in Sendai City, Rokugo Sōsei (Rokugo Masako) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Endō Shōkō. She started teaching in 1956 and belonged to the Kokufū Ongagku Shōrei-kai.
