Shakuhachi

Born February 23, 1909 in Kagoshima Prefecture, Katō Gaho (Kato Masayoshi) studied Chikuho-ryū shakuhachi under Sakai Chikuō (Chikuho I). He began teaching in 1931. Appointed Karyō-ken Dai-shihan in 1971. He belonged to the Seibi-kai and was active in the shakuhachi world for almost 50 years.
