Born October 2, 1913 in Tokyo, Kikuchi Ritsuzan (Kikuchi Yukio) studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Yasaka Reizan I. He became an instructor in 1934. Belonged to the East branch and was head of the Tachio-kai. His shakuhachi career spanned 50 years.
