Hayashi Sōho (Hayashi Kōji) was born June 18, 1910 in Osaka Prefecture. He studied Chikuho-ryū shakuhachi under Sakai Chikuho I. He started teaching in 1935. In 1967, he was awarded the title of Dai-Shihan. He belonged to the Seibikai.
