Born April 13, 1930 in Chiba Prefecture, Matsumoto Suidō (Matsumoto Yuichirō) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Katō Yūdō (from the Mizuno Rodō lineage). He started teaching in 1960. He belonged to the Rofūkai.
