Mizuno Zenzan
水野 禅山

Born in Gifu Prefecture on September 14, 1899, Mizuno Zenzan, (birth name Isamu), studied under Chikurin (Grand Master) Ōki Keizan of the Tozan-ryū from the age of 18, and founded his own shakuhachi dojo in March 1926, teaching Tozan-ryū shakuhachi to the next generation. He called his school Mizuno-to-sha. He had more than 50 students.
