Born in Ōsaka, December 20, 1927, Kikutsune Yukiko (Kurata Yukiko) studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Kikuhara Hatsuko and received her teaching credentials in 1931. She was a member of the Tōdō Ongaku-kai and Kinyū-kai, and won first place in the Tōdō Ongaku-kai and Cultural Association Competitions in 1953.
