A well-known, award-winning shakuhachi player in Tokyo. Studied Tozan-Ryū shakuhachi with Kitahara Kōzan I and Hoshida Ichizan I. Received his teaching license in 1948. He is a member of the Yonin no Kai Ensemble which was established in 1957 and recorded over 25 albums of traditional and contemporary Japanese music.
