Suzumura Yuriko was born in Tokyo, January 12, 1915. She studied Yamada-ryū shamisen and koto under Suzumura Toyoharu, earning her teaching license in 1945. She belonged to the Toyoharu-kai, and was an instructor at the Gakugei University Koto Department, Musashino University Japanese Music Club, and Kichijoji High School Koto Club.
