Takata Suisō (Takata Keidō) was born in Kōbe City on June 13, 1905. He studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Kikuzuka Sutejirō and Ihara Kunitaka, heads of the Sōkyoku Midori-kai. He began teaching in 1923 and was a member of the Nihon Tōdō-kai.
