Born in Morioka City, March 15, 1923, Doi Ayako studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Miyagi Michio, Miyagi Kiyoko, Miyagi Kazue, and Kobashi Mikiko. She started teaching in 1947. She was affiliated with the Miyagi Association and served as a member of the Iwate Sankyoku Association, a council member of the Miyagi Association, and an advisor to the Tohoku Miyagi Association.
