Hashitani Ikō was born March 26, 1911 in Taipei.
She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Usui Chikai (Yonekawa Chikatoshi lineage) and began teaching in 1960.
She belonged to the Kobe Koto Research Association.
