Mano Kinō (Naono Akira) was born December 18, 1909 in Hyogo Prefecture. He studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Noh Masaya, Kikuhara Kotoji, and Kikuta Utau I. He started teaching in 1939, belonged to the Midori-kai, and was an active teacher and performer for more than 50 years.
