Yagi Kinui (Yagi Tonoe) was born March 21, 1920 in Shizuoka Prefecture. She studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Imai Keishō, earning her teaching license (Shihan) in 1937. She was head of the Kinumori-kai and was an active performer and teacher for more than 50 years.
