Akamatsu Junzan (Akamatsu Yoshihiro) was born March 6, 1928 in Ehime Prefecture. He graduated from Ehime Prefectural Uwajima Johoku Junior High School and spent most of his professional life working at a company as its Executive Director. He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Takemori Sōzan, achieving the rank of Dai-Shihan and title, Chikurin-ken.
