Born January 6, 1917, Usuki Rinpū (Usuki Tokiyoshi) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Tsuji Jozan and Ōtsu Jofū. He belonged to the Kagoshima Prefecture Shakuhachi Federation of the Bifū-kai.
