Born August 28, 1930 in Osaka Prefecture, Kai Seiho (Kai Gentarō) studied Chikuho-ryū shakuhachi under Sakai Chikuō (Chikuho I). He started teaching in 1965. He received the Commemorative Award for at the World Expo in 1970. He belonged to the Seibi-kai.
