Born August 24, 1911 in Fukui Prefecture, Kanemaki Keizan (Kanemaki Satoshi) studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Katō Seizan. He started teaching in 1935. He was a member of the Fukui Prefecture branch of the Tozan-ryū Shakuhachi Gaku-kai and was active in the shakuhachi world for over 40 years.
