Born December 16, 1943 in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kaneko Mandō (Kaneko Tadaomi) studied Meian-ryū shakuhachi under Teshigawara Tekiyū and Tominomori Kyozan. He belonged to the Meian Kyozanbō Dōyū-kai and the Meian Fukan Warakuzen-kai.
