Born February 15, 1911 in Saga Prefecture, Kawachi Yūdō (Kawachi Tarō) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Nonaka Chikusei, Aoki Yūdō, and Aoki Reibo. With more than 40 years of experience in the shakuhachi world, he was a member of the Saga Futaba-kai and vice president of the Saga Prefecture Sankyoku Kyōkai.
