Tokiwa Kōshū (Tokiwa Matsutarō) Born May 31, 1909 in Kanagawa Prefecture, studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Watanabe Kōfū and Sakagami Sosei. He started teaching in 1965 and belonged to the Kōfū-kai.
