Born May 25, 1920 in Tsushima City, Mishina Masayasu (Mishina Yasuo) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Kōbe Sue and Satō Masakazu. He started teaching in 1946. In a career spanning more than 50 years, he was the head of the Itomasa-kai, a member of the Itotake-kai and Kokufū Concert Society, and also served as an officer of the Japan Federation of the Blind among other organizations.
