Motoeya Reizan (Motoeya Ryosuke) was born March 30, 1914 in Chiba Prefecture. He studied Yōzan-ryū and Mu-ryū shakuhachi under Ishizu Kizan (Katsuta Yōzan lineage). He started teaching in 1955. He belonged to Sawara Yōzan-kai.
