Yamazaki Kōdō (Yamazaki Shinichi) was born September 29, 1916 in Nagano Prefecture. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Karasawa Yōshū. He began teaching in 1955. He belonged to the Fuyō-kai. Spent more than 30 years as a teacher and performer.
