Fukami Sumiko

Born November 19, 1908, Fukami Sumiko studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Keigen Daikengyo and Miyagi Michio, earning her Shihan (master teaching license) in 1917. She was a director of the Miyagi-kai, head of the Fukuoka branch, adviser to the Kyushu branch, head of the Shinkai-kai, and was active as a performer and teacher for more than 65 years.
