Born in Kanagawa Prefecture, February 10, 1914, Satō Chikaki (Matsuyama Takahisa) studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Shiga Shizuko and Yonekawa Chikatoshi I. She began teaching in 1928, and won various awards in the performance, koto, and shamisen composition categories at the Tokyo Shimbun Competition. She was chairman of the Shiragiku-kai and planning committee member of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai.
