She studied koto under Yasutomi Sachiko from the age of six, and began playing the shamisen from the age of sixteen under the guidance of her mother, Yanase Kazuko. In 1989, she studied koto under Oda Keiko. In the same year, she began studying sankyoku ensemble with Araki Kodō V. Studied koto under Fujii Yasukazu of the Ginmeikai in 1993. In April of 1994, she moved to Tokyo to study as a full-time apprentice under Fujii Yasukazu. Two years later, she returned to her hometown. In 1997, she studied koto and sangen under Akagi Mitsuaki. Lives and works in Shimonoseki City. Currently, she performs in Yamaguchi, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, and Oita, and teaches and trains younger students.
