Sanagi Okatoyo

Born November 7, 1909, Sanagi Okatoyo (Sanagi Chiyoko) studied Yamada-ryū shamisen and koto under Hagioka Shōin I and Miyagi Michio. She received the Arts Festival Encouragement Award in 1963, the Hokkaidō Culture Award in 1970, and various other awards. She was a member of the new music group “Gun”, toured the United States, and belonged to the Hagioka-kai, organized by the Kinyū-kai.
