Born November 20, 1920 in Tokyo, Yonekawa Chikatoshi II (Yonekawa Yasuo) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Yonekawa Kin'o (father Yonekawa Chikatoshi I). He was the second Iemoto of the Kenso-kai association of the Ikuta school, and held the office from 1959 to 1981. He laid the groundwork that would allow the Kenso-kai to pass down both classic and contemporary pieces, precisely, from one generation to the next. His most important works include 'Wakatake', 'Asukagawa', and 'Wakamidori'. He was also a planning committee member of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai.
