Kuraishi Katsue was born in Niigata Prefecture, February 9, 1905. Studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Miyagi Michio and received her masters license (Shihan) in 1928. Along with 50 years of experience as a performer and teacher, she was a director of the Miyagi-kai, head of the Bara-kai, and an advisor to the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai. She was also a lecturer at Toshima High School, Komatsugawa High School, and Musashi High School.
