Satō Toyokaku

Born in Sapporo, November 10, 1947, Satō Toyokaku (Satō Atsuyō) studied Yamada-ryū shamisen and koto under Sanagi Okatoyo and Tani Sumi. She graduated from the 12th class of the NHK Hōgaku Training Course. She was a two-time winner of the All-Hokkaidō Sankyoku Competition and recipient of the Governor's Award. She belonged to the Kotoyū-kai and Hagioka-kai, and was a member of the new music group “Mun."
