Shigeno Chiyono

Born in the US, June 13, 1907, Shigeno Chiyono studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Ōta Tamiko, Wataya Kotoe, and Ono Seiyū. She started teaching in 1933. Active as a performer and teacher for more than 60 years, she was head of the Katsufū-kai and affiliated with the Tōdō-kai.
