Born in 1913, Ono Sadako initially studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen with her mother, Ono Tomoe. In 1929, she became a student of Miyagi Michio and then, two years later, studied under Tomizaki Shunshō. From 1951 she studied exclusively with Tomiyama Seikin I. She was the head of the Chidori-kai.
