Born in Tokyo, February 11, 1909, Nakata Ichirō studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Nakamura Fusa, Itō Renko, Watanabe Kengyō, and Hagiwara Seigin.
He belonged to the Kyoto Tōdō-kai and was active as a teacher and performer for over 50 years.
