Kikuasa Shigeharu (Nishizawa Asajirō) was born November 1, 1891 in Ōsaka Prefecture. He studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Kikuzumi Kengyō and Nakagi Kengyō II, earning his masters license in 1907. He received the Ōsaka Prefectural Governor's Award in 1969. A member of the Tōdō Ongaku-kai and the Kinei-kai, he was a highly-regarded performer and teacher for over 65 years.
